INVERBOYNDIE

Inverboyndie is the clubs first build since taking up residence in Fort Matilda Station. I has taken 6 months to build and has had successful outings to Modelrail Scotland and Perth Model Rail exhibitions. Inverboyndie is an " oo " scale end to end layout set in the Highlands of Scotland. The layout is based on the Banff track plan and features scratch built buildings and a seascape with the Boyndie burn crossing the layout. It also features a small harbour and local distillery which supplies blend for Johnny Walker Whisky.

Inverboyndie is based on 50's and 60's era with a Beeching reprieve allowing " blue diesels " to run the serviceinto the 70's. Because of the unusual track plan passenger services were "gravity" shunted---- a feature to look out for on the layout or see it on you tube - http://youtu.be/H_vl_y9vvgA

The layout can be DCC or DC controlled and features scratch built buildings and our first attempts at static grassing. Points are controlled by SEEP motors attached by adhesive tapes and shunting is hands free thanks to Kadee couplers and near invisible neodynium surface magnets.
